“if you judge people, you have no time to love them.” – mother teresa
Hello friends! Our family is collecting bath towels for AHOPE for Children in Ethiopia. They are in need of new or gently used bath towels. The towels cannot be too big or heavy since they will be hand washed and line dried at the Care C
enter. If you have extra towels at home, or if you find a good deal on towels during your next Target run we’d gratefully share them with the children at AHOPE.
Thanks so much for your support!
Please join us as we lift up in prayer our friends who are in the middle of their adoption process waiting for Embassy appointments right now, for all the little friends waiting at the care-center (especially Genet’s little buddy – missing him terribly) waiting for their forever families, for all our dear friends working at CHSFS and for so, so many others effected by these changes.
I don’t have answers…I wish I did…but God certainly does. Praying for you my friends!!!
With the help of some close friends we have organized and amazing event to help provide short-term food relief for the people of Haiti. This weekend at Sauk Rapids High School we are hosting a Kids Against Hunger (www.kidsagainsthungercm.org) food packaging event. Our goal is to package 1,000,000 meals in two days.
For the Love of Haiti has 3,000 volunteers registered to package 300 people at a time for an hour and half. We have ordered food (90,000 pounds of long-grain rice, 33,000 pounds of soy, 7,300 pounds of vitamin mix, and 3,600 pounds of dry vegetable mix). The only thing that we are missing is more money to help pay for the food. There is still time to donate to this cause! You can donate online via the Central MN Community Foundation (www.communitygiving.org); select the Help for Haiti-Kids Against Hunger Fund. You can also mail a check to Central MN Community Foundation, 101 7th Avenue S. #100 St. Cloud, MN 56301 (In the memo field please write “Help for Haiti-KAH”.)
No donation is too big and no donation is too small. $10 provides 100 meals to someone in desperate need of food.
a friend or ours runs a program called mission-haiti (providing orphan ministry, school sponsorships, evangelism, medical care and short-term missions) she recently posted the following on her website and it explains why our family is taking part in the “for the love of haiti” food packaging event. (see previous post)
After I received news that all of our key people, missionaries, and babies lived thru the earthquake, I said, “God, why is it that all of our people lived while thousands around them didn’t make it. I am so happy they did but it just doesn’t seem fair.” I believe God’s answer was clear. If you are still breathing today, I have a job for you to do.
as some of may have heard we are helping organize a large kids against hunger packaging event for the people of haiti. we are calling this event “for the love of haiti” and on valentines weekend (feb. 12/13), we are gathering 3,000 volunteers and hopefully $100,000 in and effort to package 1,000,000 meals for those in need in haiti.
your help, money and prayers are greatly appreciated.
p.s. thanks to my good friend brent for help with the logo!
Autumn has arrived and we all know what follows. Time to dig out the winter
outerwear. As you rummage through past years’ winter coats, snowpants,
boots, hats, mittens etc. we wanted to make everyone aware of a Coat Share
we are participating in this year. We are collecting winter outerwear to be
distributed to school aged children in the St. Cloud area who are in need of
warm items. Please let us know if you have gently used items you’d like to
pass on to other families who need them! Thanks to all who’ve shared their
extras so far!!
last week was our local kids against hunger annual banquet. i created the following video which we played during the banquet. (big thanks to free (a.k.a brent) for helping me get my quicktime video converted to flash). if anyone has any issues playing this video please leave a comment or send me an email.
update — i had to remove the video, had some issues playing it in some browsers, it will be back up again very soon.
if you took time to read the article on the hunger crisis in haiti, i am sure you will understand why it so important that you sign this online petition.
