its been a very mild winter which has not allowed for good ice to be made at the local rink. the ice was not great but family had fun skating.

highschool dance number two for mac. i wasn’t able to be home to take pictures, but kt filled in for me and did a great job! genet was so excited that she dressed up and took pictures with mac and her friends!

a couple pictures before mac’s first high school dance – homecoming 2011. amazed at how my little girl has grown up to be such a beautiful young woman.

today marked the first day of school for all of the kids. its hard to believe that we now span kindergarten to freshman in high school with each kid in a different school. mac is a a freshman, tj is in 6th grade, mitiku is in 2nd grade and genet started kindergarten. here’s to a great year!

wow – another great summer for the nies family. lots of time in the pool, lots and lots of soccer, time with friends and family and a few long weekend get a ways. to end it we decided to head to the mn state fair. on a mission of sorts – Kim’s crazy MN Fair adventure list:
1. Eat something on a stick (completed – corn dogs, salad, and pizza)
2. Pet an animal (completed – dairy goats and horses)
3. Eat a cheese curd (completed)
4. Play a game at the midway (completed – but nothing to show for it)
5. Eat an un-healthy food that was once healthy (completed)
6. Make a new friend (completed)
7. Ride bid slide (completed)
8. Dance to music (completed)
9. Find someone you know (completed – several actually)
10. One act of kindness (completed)
we had lots of fun and many laughs. it was a great way to end the summer.

mac is officially in high school now and the start of high school soccer is upon us. seems like just yesterday that she started playing soccer and now she is already playing in high school. she is playing on the freshman team and enjoying every minute of it. her first match was a hard fought battle against an older jv team that ended in a 1-1 tie. we are so proud of her!

tj congratulations on a great year of soccer. district playoff champs and just one game away from state. you played hard and left it all on the field. we are so proud of you!

mac congratulations on a great year! it was fun to see you and your team grow. you should be very proud of yourself as you left it all out on the field. we are very proud of you!
